BareSQL Audit Now Reads Every Database of a Server and Says What Row Security Lets Through

Roles in PostgreSQL belong to the whole server, and tables to one database. Until now an audit followed that split: one database per run. A login that could read customer emails in the shop database and contacts in the CRM database needed two reports and someone to add them up.

The other gap was row security. The report said which policy applied to a login on each table, and stopped there. Whether
tenant_isolation
let the app see one tenant’s rows or every tenant’s was left for you to work out from the policy’s text.

The first release of BareSQL Portable came with a list of differences it knew about and had no rule for yet. A migration that changes a column, a table with a column called
rank
, a dashboard that counts with
FILTER
, a query copied from Oracle that ends in
FROM DUAL
. compare would show them when a script ran into one. lint said nothing.

BareSQL 0.2 closes that list. It has eleven new rules, 69 in all, and every one was run on SQLite, PostgreSQL, MySQL and MariaDB before its text was written.
